This purveyor of remarkable wine, spirits and beer in Canmore, Alberta wanted a modern commercial space where visitors and customers could cozy up to the bar and taste amazing wines. It was important to also support ongoing ‘flow’ through the shop to facilitate efficient retailing.

The concrete floor was transformed into a colourful surface with acid etching. The bar and transaction counter mirrored the colours in the floor with a custom copper laminate face and curved concrete counter. Shelving was designed to display specific wine bottles; storage below was designed to house bottles for purchase. Stone wall columns helped break-up the length of shelving and create a unique display with timber. Walls were kept neutral to offset the accent colour in the bulkhead and to help feature the exquisite wines.

The space achieves its goal of both engaging with customers through the tasting process and ensuring an effective wine sales function.
